If your home needs heating and cooling across four, five or six rooms from a single outdoor unit, two Midea systems come up again and again in quotes: the 24.4kW Mini VRF (MDV‑V244WN1(AU)‑R) and the 19kW Multi‑Split (MULMI0619B). Both are offered with wifi control and a 7‑year warranty through Climate Green, both connect up to six indoor heads, and both are VEU rebate‑eligible — but they’re built on different technology, and the right choice depends on how your home actually uses each room.

From 30 September 2026, the mandatory VEU co‑payment for multi‑head split and ducted systems of 10kW or more rises from $1,000 to $3,000 (inc. What “VRF” actually changes
Both systems move refrigerant from one outdoor unit to several indoor heads, but they do it differently. A standard multi-split like the MULMI0619B essentially shares one outdoor compressor across whichever indoor units are calling for heating or cooling at the time. A Mini VRF system like the MDV‑V244WN1(AU)‑R goes a step further: it continuously fine-tunes how much refrigerant reaches each head, rather than simply switching zones on or off.
In practice, that means the VRF system tends to hold temperature more precisely across zones with very different usage — for example, a living area running hard in the evening while bedrooms are barely ticking over — while using less energy than pushing full output everywhere at once.
Wifi and the 7-year warranty
Both systems quoted here come with wifi app control as standard, so scheduling, zone control and monitoring work the same way regardless of which unit you choose. The 7-year warranty offered through Climate Green also applies to both — well above the 5-year warranty against defects that has been mandatory for VEU-eligible systems since 31 March 2025.

VEU rebate eligibility
Both the MDV‑V244WN1(AU)‑R and MULMI0619B are reverse cycle systems capable of both heating and cooling, which is the core VEU eligibility requirement, and both appear on Midea’s dedicated VEU product range for Victoria. Final eligibility and the discount amount still depend on your specific property and what’s being replaced — the largest discounts apply when an existing ducted gas heater is decommissioned as part of the upgrade.
- Must be an approved reverse cycle system listed on the ESC’s VEU Register of Approved Products
- Must include a minimum 5-year warranty (both systems here exceed this at 7 years)
- Co-payment currently $1,000 for systems of this size, rising to $3,000 from 30 September 2026

Which one should you choose?
As a rough guide:
- Choose the 24.4kW VRF (MDV‑V244WN1(AU)‑R) if your home has clearly different zones with different usage patterns — a large open living area plus several bedrooms used at different times — and you want the tightest possible temperature control and efficiency across them.
- Choose the 19kW Multi (MULMI0619B) if you want strong, reliable multi-room heating and cooling across a similarly sized home without paying for VRF-level zoning precision you may not fully use.
